  • Beauty school drop out!

When was the last time you allowed yourself to feel beautiful? Yes, I know it’s a big word. Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t referring to the “B” word. I was talking about the “A” word. ALLOW.

When was the last time you allowed or GAVE YOURSELF PERMISSION to feel beautiful?  Oh yeah, it’s all on you babe. There are things we do to “make ourselves” feel pretty; a trip to the salon, a new outfit or losing 10 lbs and suddenly we have a little swagger in our step. We hold our head higher. We walk a little brisker. We smile more easily.

What if I told you that capturing that feeling of confidence is a choice? What if I told you it could be yours without the trip to the salon or the new outfit? All you have to do is ALLOW it.

When I was a little girl, no more than 5 years old, I asked my father as many little girls do. “Daddy, am I pretty?”…He thought for a moment and replied while patting my head, “I would have to say you are a little bit homely but don’t worry about it”. I wasn’t quite sure what that meant. So I went to my mother and asked her. “Mom, what does “homely” mean?”…she smiled at me oblivious to my conversation with my father and said, “Well, it’s not very pretty, just kind of plain.”

That brief moment in time molded my decisions for the next 41 years. I did not allow myself to feel pretty. I felt lost in a world where being pretty meant being popular and accepted. I just accepted the notion that I was plain. Agh! But I am far from plain my little grasshopper.

Make the choice to allow yourself to feel beautiful .Make the choice to allow others to see your beauty. I was 46 years old before someone called me “Beautiful Girl” and I allowed myself to believe it as strongly as I did the comments of my father all those years ago. It was a choice then as it is a choice now. Give yourself permission to be beautiful in every way, in every aspect of your day.  Hold your head high, put a swagger in your step and smile a toothy grin…people will stop, look and listen. Tell them they are beautiful!!!

I love each and every one of you

  • Ask, and it shall be given you.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

A simple lesson I had heard since childhood but have found so hard to incorporate into my daily lifestyle. After all, I am a product of the 80’s and shown a world of hard work and competition. How on earth could it be so simple?

A wonderful woman by the name of “Nanny” showed me how easily this simple principal can work. Life was moving on and we had been out of touch for a while. She reached out to me one day via Facebook and sent a beautiful note of well wishes and a final comment that she had noticed a picture of me in a gorgeous black beaded dress in one of my photo albums and if I ever had a thought to get rid of that dress she would gladly take it of my hands.

The dress had been hanging in my closet for several years and I realized what joy it would give her to have that dress.

I slid it from it’s hanger, folded and wrapped it carefully and slid it into box and sent it to her overnight with a note to “Enjoy”.

She was as giddy as a school girl with a new prom dress. She vowed to find a date for New Year’s Eve this year and wear the dress. She commented to me as matter of fact as can be…”Well, GOD said Ask, and it shall be given”…

Plainly and simply she applied the law. I wish I could be a fly on the wall for I am sure she has asked for a dapper gentleman caller to ring in the new year. Some say it is better to give than to receive…I say it is a balance. One cannot exist without the other.

Keep the energy flowing….give graciously….receive graciously. My cup runneth over.

    Happy New Year Nanny

  • Journey of a Thousand Steps

We have all heard the saying “The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step”…well….not exactly.

It starts with a thought, an inspiration or idea and is made manifest through pure intent.I began the journey of this painting after I read a quote by E.E. Cummings.

“Here is the deepest secret nobody knows. Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart. I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart.”

As I read this I saw in my minds eye the TREE OF LIFE. And I saw it as a new beginning. I took the inspiration and took it within. I saw the roots building a foundation and saw it nourished by it’s surroundings. The unseen foundation supports the part of the tree that is the outward expression of what the tree is.The branches reach to an infinite sky for wisdom, nourishment and growth.

When God created the heavens and the earth they were first a THOUGHT, an idea in the perfect God Mind nurtured by pure intent. God brought forth what he was not, to experience what he was. And as the thought took hold the manifestation came to be. We are all creators. We all have the power to create the universe in which we want to live by going within and holding that idea in a prayerful manner. Through our God Mind all things are possible.

  • Work in Progress

Yes, I am a WORK IN PROGRESS. Much like a painting on canvas…frame, foundation and layers upon layers of color and texture. I am touching upon my talents and desires that will make 2011 my most memorable year yet.

I am that I AM energy that will create a world of acceptance and love for myself and for those around me.

With a song in my heart…I carry your heart. I carry it inside my heart. You can carve your name in my TREE OF LIFE any day!

“There is no moment of delight in any pilgrimage like the beginning of it”

    Charles Dudley Warner (1829-1900)
